It is sometimes said that one must suffer for their craft, however in this instance, actress Diane Kruger was knowingly made to suffer by filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. During production, the actress, who portrayed a character in Inglourious Basterds, faced genuine risk.
In one scene, Christoph Waltz’s character chokes her, and Tarantino failed to cut the scene quickly enough to make the audience truly fear for her. Diane literally passed out due to severe asphyxiation. Even though the actress said that working with the director was “pure joy,” this experience could have actually caused serious harm to her.
