While filming Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, no birds were harmed—but people definitely were. Tippi Hedren, the movie’s lead, was attacked by birds on filming after it seemed that Hitchcock had mistaken real birds for fake ones.
The actress claimed that the director made explicit efforts to approach her and that he changed the birds only after she repeatedly rejected him. Hedren needed a long time to rebuild her confidence following her attack and psychological breakdown.
