25+ Weird Things Mechanics Found During Service Appointments

When You’re an Airhead…

We truly believe that this is a realistic joke. We can’t help but feel like we’re drowning in our hands over this.

Were they really under the false belief that adding airbags involved only attaching a plastic bag stuffed with air? Although airbags can be somewhat expensive, this is a bad idea and in no way a replacement.

Too Much of a Good Thing Isn’t Always Good…

This has to be among the funniest things we’ve ever seen. This nice lady is so excited and proud of her neatly wrapped tire made using duct tape!

We also find it hard to believe that using duct tape to cover your entire tire is safe despite the fact that it’s one of the most handy and amazing things ever invented. Will it be able to brake properly with enough tread and traction? We don’t think so.

Mirror, Mirror on the Car

We understand that doing repairs on your own rather than taking it to the shop is far more efficient and economical. And this very instance shows how incredibly our mind became smart under such circumstances.

Just keep in mind that some objects may appear closer or farther away than they actually are, even with a mirror like this one!

The Metal Koosh Collector

Do you remember those squishy, fuzzy, spiky Koosh Balls from the 1990s? This appears to be a metal Koosh ball lodged in the gearbox oil pan. However, what is truly taking place here?

This transmission pan is filled to the brim with metal; yikes! A magnet is normally located in the transmission pan to keep the oil free of trash and metal particles.

We Would be Fuming

So, it is completely the customer’s fault at all. This was apparently the outcome of an auto shop repairman accidentally leaving some shop rags within the engine valley while they were repairing the intake gaskets.

However, the story does not finish there because a complete engine replacement is required. If we were the consumer, we would be furious. Talk about blowing a gasket.

When You Want Wings and a Tail

This is undoubtedly an interesting chance for a caterpillar to develop into a butterfly. Yes, although it may not be obvious at first, this car is actually home to a gorgeous butterfly that is imprisoned within.

This poor person has definitely been blinded by the lights for a time! However, insects are usually drawn to that anyhow.

Don’t Forget to Get Your Oil Changed

Which is the most common reason for bringing your car in? Naturally, to replace your oil. Maintaining the proper level of oil and keeping out any waste that might try to get in are the two major functions of your oil filter.

However, what happened with the oil filter located on the left here? It appears that it has been overtaken and lost the war of the oils.

Is There a Doctor in the House?

Whoops! This surveillance vehicle appears to be anxious to go to the shop. It’s obvious that the driver struggled to apply the brakes and ended up crashing into the garage door, but perhaps that is precisely the reason they were there in the first place.

It resembles scenes from movies where a blood-covered person rushes into a hospital, cries out, “I need a doctor,” and falls on the ground.

Rainy Days on Mary’s Farm

It looks like Mary’s well-known nursery rhyme is more true than we had believed! Mary always has her tiny lamb with her wherever she goes. And notice how content the (not so) small lamb is to be seated in the seat.

There are other people who are content to spend their rainy days in the van with this fluffy ball of affection. A dog is also relaxing on the sheep’s lap. What fun!

You Got Insurance, Right?

It looks like this person may have confused driving range, shooting range, and racetrack. I take it that they are all the same.

Additionally, don’t let the tire’s apparent giant-eaten appearance away from the bullet holes. This vehicle is a total wreck! The Reddit member who first posted this said, “I work at a rental company, and the police brought this back,” which is the funniest part of the post.

I Spy Something Fuzzy

At  first sight, everything seems to be normal. However, if you look closely, you’ll discover that something seems a little out of place.

Although we’ve heard of cats rolling up in cars on chilly nights to be warm, this is certainly something we never would have predicted. Is it one more of Mary’s baby lambs, or is this slobbering dog attempting a game of hide-and-seek?

Ruh-Roh, You Found Me!

What brought this adorable dog to this location? Really, how can such a large dog fit inside the engine of the car? Amazing.

The amusing thing is that he appears to be rather disappointed about being seen, especially considering how well his fur blends in with the corroded engine. It’s okay, buddy. You’re still a wonderful boy, and this was a really inventive hiding place.

What Seems to be the Problem, Officer?

The story behind this orange-filled car may seem unreal, but it’s actually rather funny.

We initially assumed that this might have been someone’s stupid practical joke on their friends. However, it appears that this vehicle is loaded with stolen oranges. As the police pursued the drivers, they discovered they were involved in a fruit theft. Who would have guessed?

Tire of This

For some folks, every part of their car can be an accessory. If you thought rims were just an insignificant part of the wheel, you’ve clearly never opened your mind to the possibility of cool metal rims.

However, after having their hub cap fly off, this person discovered their rim was just a little bit bent—and just put it right back on their car as if nothing happened. Hey, everyone has their taste. We’re not sure if this is great for the wheel.

Forget Rolling the Window Down

We all know that you shouldn’t keep animals or babies in cars when you’re not there. But what about keeping your pup in the back of the trunk if there’s a little doggie door for them to stick their heads out?

Rain or shine, soap or dry, he’s there working ‘round the clock to get the job done and your engines ready to ride fast. Even if that means going through the car wash. Now, that is commitment and dedication that you just can’t buy.

Twist and Shout

There have previously been some problematic driving shafts. But nothing has confused us as much as this shaft that’s found itself in a tight spot.

This piece of metal has obviously been subjected to excessive torque. How could it twist with such magnitude? It is unfortunate that after spending a significant amount of money on a car, the driveshaft ends up in such poor condition.

Just a Little Spring Cleaning

These small squirrels appear to have chosen a quite unusual location for their hibernation nest. We apologize, but it appears that you won’t be able to use your automobile until spring arrives. It would be absolutely criminal to wake up these adorable little creatures.

Can you really be angry with them in the first place? They are such a cute and wonderful little bundle of joy!

Weighed Down

Next time you buy something off the internet, make sure you double-check exactly what you are purchasing. After all, you don’t want to put a transmission in your car that’s not particularly functional.

We’re not so sure your car will run smoothly once you place this part inside, stuffed with bricks and secured together with an industrial zip tie. We’re worried about the shipping cost of this hefty fraud for the buyer.

Up in Smokes

Whoa. It’s a lot to process. We may think of a lot of potential reasons for an event such as this. Firstly, they may be the kind of person who requires a visual cue to quit smoking, such as a picture of their smoking habit. Alternatively, perhaps they simply refuse to literate and throw their buds out the window. Alternatively, maybe there was an odor so strong that only a large number of smoked cigarettes could mask it.

Trashed at the End of the Night

Although we can see the logic behind it, this doesn’t seem like a very safe or effective plan at all.

There may not always be a dumpster nearby to dispose of your trash. It appears that this location chose to simply have a dedicated car that delivers all of the trash to the dumpster in one go.

Cabbage Patch Car

We all did some crazy things when the coronavirus pandemic struck in the late winter of 2020 and we were all placed under lockdown. The majority of us did, however, learn what was deemed essential—and every home has its own priorities.

This picture was shared on Reddit by a user NHYetiMonster, who said, “While you were stocking up on TP, I was stocking on more essential things.”

Pop! Goes the Tire

This appears to be quite terrifying! It’s similar to what happens when you unintentionally drop water on a Gremlin’s back—more nasty Gremlins emerge. or perhaps some other kind of extraterrestrial egg that has made a deep hole in your tire.

However, bubbles like these in your tires are a major problem that has to be addressed right once; fortunately, there’s an easy fix!

Yeah, I Quit

When it comes to discovering creatures under the hood, it appears that we may have hit another huge home run! Yes, a possum can be a little frightening at first. But this photo is actually really adorable—take a peek at how cozy and adorable this possum is curled up in.

However, it appears that the auto shop employee had the opposite thought, as he quickly closed the hood again after realizing what he had seen.

One Man’s Trash…

Have you ever experienced problems with somebody attempting to pilfer items from your vehicle? This brilliant driver, however, came up with the ideal solution, really pushing things to the next level with ingenious and inventive thinking!

To make it seem like they had everything they need to break in, they made a “garbage cover” to hide all of the equipment and supplies inside their car.
