Creep Aisle Three
U/bwhitford949: “Not too long ago, I saw this young child playing in the toy aisles at Walmart. I felt something wasn’t right because a male would follow closely behind her every time she did it. The small girl asked me if she was lost when I stopped her. When I told her that this man wasn’t her father, she looked at him and slowly turned to face me again, almost crying.
I took hold of her hand and told her we would be going to the front to ask them to call for her mother. He kind of covered me with this side grin that still makes the hair on my entire body stand up when we moved to the front of the store and passed him. If I hadn’t stopped that young child…Sincerely, I’m afraid to think what might have happened to her.”
Man of the House
U/Meepitesque: “I went to my grandfather’s cemetery in February 2012 to celebrate his birthday. I was head down, kneeling in front of the grave. My body entered close-by mode when it reached full danger. When I looked up, I saw a man sprinting out of the woods surrounding the graveyard. He was about fifty feet away from me when I reached my truck. I got the truck going and headed out as quickly as I could, but not before cutting him off in my path. I so had an incredibly clear view of his face.
Cut to a few years later. I…decided to download an app that had a ton of paranormal, cryptid, serial killer, and ufo articles. As I was browsing through the serial killers, I came across one that made my heart drop…Israel Keyes…You were fast, Israel, but I was faster, and I’m glad we didn’t officially meet.”
Parking Lot Prowl
U/Skullseye: “My girlfriend and I were both working and were only a few months away from becoming first-time parents. One day, after work, I walked to my girlfriend’s place of work. A man approached me just before I reached the mall entrance, asking if I could assist him in starting his car because he had to leave for work. I offered to assist. We stroll around the mall’s corner to where a car is parked. Man: “Well, all we have to do is enter, and I’ll take you to my car; I need assistance starting.”
The hairs on the back of my neck begin to stand up. I immediately told him I assumed this would be very quick because I had somewhere to be. I apologize and turn to leave. We notice the same guy who was “in a hurry to get to work”, slowly driving around as we make our way around the parking lots to go to the bank. Examining potential candidates.”
Knock Knock
U/littletinything: “My door is being knocked on. I wasn’t expecting company, especially this late at night, and my partner was at work. Then I notice the door is not f—ing locked, so I turn down my music. Immediately, I feel afraid. I don’t recognize the man outside my door, and he appears angry, filthy, and really threatening. He became agitated when he realized that I had just muted my music, heard me shut the door, and began to yell, “Ma’am?” more times.
I realised he must have been watching me vacuum when I turned to glance around the room and noticed my blinds were open. My husband said, “Excuse me, who are you, and what are you doing?” as my neighbours across the street thankfully opened their doors. Startled, the creep fumbles and…left promptly.”
Double Triple Check
U/shuddering Shannon: “So my brand-new, idiotic water heater broke down.In order for everyone to have a shower, we booked a hotel room. My teen girls and my spouse had gone first! I didn’t notice the camera until I was standing inside the shower. It had to be viewed from a specific angle wrapped around the covered light.
When I looked up, I saw it! When I shouted, my husband rushed inside. After I told him of the time, he looked at and removed the bottom cover, which caused the camera to fall. After tearing it out, my husband rushed into the office, where an argument broke out. The police asked about our initial incident. After taking the owner in, they reportedly found hundreds of films, which they use to compile proof against him. So before you undress in a hotel, inspect everywhere!”
Big Brother
“All right, so my brother is a terrible jerk. We are around three years apart in age. As we grew older, it would get worse, but my parents used to just think it was kids being kids. He used to carry a knife when he came out of the kitchen and would just point it at me. When I would mention something, my parents would never believe it.
He used to try to fight me, but it was more than just fighting; there would be real punches and kicks, and because I was smaller, I would end up with bruises. As we grew older, he became more violent. I discovered a concealed camera not too long ago—about two months ago, when I turned eighteen. I instantly knew it was his.”
Rookie Move
U/Canuckhalloween: This happened during the winter of my tenth year of life. Suddenly, this red automobile passed by me and stopped while I was alone, walking to the bus stop. As I passed past it, a man exclaimed, “HEY KID!””I noticed you leaving 355 Terrence Road. Is that man your father?” I was so terrified that I fled because I had no idea how this individual knew my address. That evening…I was surprised to find that same red automobile parked across the street when I went to my window.
I hurried to my parents and started crying. When my dad phoned the police, they immediately took the man into custody. The woman engaged the rookie private investigator because she thought her husband was having an affair. My parents laughed when the cops gave them the husband’s photo. The man didn’t resemble my father at all.”
Trust Your Gut
U/Altruistic_Excuse456: “My brother, his mother, and her boyfriend invited a school acquaintance around for dinner when I was about six or seven years old. All I remember about the relationship is that I wasn’t fond of him. He wanted to play the game called “airplane” with me, where the child lies on their feet and pretends to be flying while the adult lies on their back.
I informed my parents that I didn’t like him, and from what I remember, they didn’t seem to think much of him either. It goes without saying that he never returned to our home. Shortly afterward, the mother of my brother’s buddy vanished and was subsequently discovered deceased. As it happens, he killed her. Something about this man bothered me even as a small child, and I have never been able to get over it.”
Run and Hide
U/lil-tweakyy: “My family and I (22F) were sitting in our living room…All of a sudden, there’s an unexpected knock at the front door. I go to open it, and there are 3 young teens…that I don’t know. They tell me that a few guys are following them…I told them immediately to come inside…The teens told me it was 3 younger boys…that had been following them as they walked abt a mile from a gas station…
I told my parents that I didn’t like him, and from what I remember, they didn’t seem to think much of him either. It goes without saying that he never returned to our home. Shortly afterward, the mother of my brother’s buddy vanished and was subsequently discovered deceased. As it happens, he killed her. Something about this man bothered me even as a small child, and I have never been able to get over it.”
Mall Maniac
U/ToyStoryAlien: “I was at the mall with my parents when I was thirteen. I was dying to get out. go take a stroll by myself for a while…I was stopped by a casually dressed woman. She identified herself as an undercover police officer and said she had evidence of my stealing. It still gives me the chills when she asks me my age and then says, “Are your parents expecting you to go home with them tonight?” They were, of course, I told her.
Then she insisted that I come after her.On the way there, we just so happened to run into my dad. He asked what was going on, and I answered him. While I was describing the issue to her, the woman picked up her phone and began talking to someone. She uttered phrases like, “Oh, this isn’t the right girl?” before saying, “Sorry, wrong person,” and hanging up the phone. My dad and I were just stunned to be standing there.”
Wide Awake
U/kwicquestion: “Last night, when I was lying down in my recliner near the window, I heard a man whisper, ‘Yo, he’s still up,’ from outside. Despite my strength, I experienced real terror when I was exposed to danger. After a little period of lack of action, I stood up and peered out the window, but nothing caught my eye.
They might have reached the forest before I arrived at the window because my house is situated in a heavily wooded area. The shades were drawn, but not closed. Just gave me the creeps. I need a friend to watch my back and alert me when he hears them the next time they come, so I’m going to adopt a dog from the animal shelter today. But I just wanted to express that it’s not often that I feel fear rise through every hair on my body.”
Playing Games
U/Pavlovababy: “For background, I’m a 22-year-old female. A man who was selling a PS2 on Facebook was reached by me when I was living alone at university. He promises to drop it off right away after work. However, despite my constant promises that I would meet him at a nearby parking lot, he persisted in saying he would do me a favour and deliver it straight to my door. He replied, “All right, good.”
After a few hours, I relax with my friend Adam. Adam is all like, “What?” when I casually mention that I’m meeting this man for the PS2. Adam and I decided to go together, and it was a wise decision. The dude is messaging me once again to see if we can still meet. And after that, I say I’ll go with a burly, bearded man with dark hair. He stopped responding on Facebook and removed his profile. He never gets back to me.”
Never Go Inside
U/Ostranenie_Strangely: “When I brought this order to this house—I used to deliver pizzas when I was in college. The guy opened the door and said, ‘Honey, the pizza is here,’ but the place was obviously empty. like the house has nothing. Nothing, not even carpets or furniture. It was a large, lonely location.
I was told to come in by the man, who then told me to stay put and warned me not to move while he went to “get his wallet.” I’ve been waiting for ten minutes or so, and nothing. I follow him to the corner where he disappeared, and as I approach this door, I hear him talking about me. Describing me and keeps saying ‘it’ll be easy’. That’s when I f—— bolted, found the back door, hopped the fence and quit that day.”
Peek a Boo
U/miniaphid: “I’m now visiting family at an Airbnb, and I’ve noticed a few things that don’t feel quite right. 1. The house only has barn doors with their bottom stopper removed, which makes it very simple to just push them off the hinges. There are no regular doors in the house.
2. The house has peep holes located throughout, which allow you to easily glance into other rooms without drawing attention to yourself. But the tipping point for me came last night. I swear I heard something moving in the house’s attic, but I couldn’t verify it because I don’t have a step ladder that can reach the door.”
Car Troubles
U/roxettexoxo: “We stay in a somewhat quiet place…There was a tap on the door one evening at around one in the morning. In front of my house, a young woman had her automobile parked close to the curb. She appeared quite young, maybe 15 or 16 years old, when I responded. She told me she was having problems with her car and asked if I could come look at it and maybe jumpstart it.
I was not a driver at the time.but said he would give her a call if she needed a tow or AAA. Despite her refusal, she insisted that I examine the lights on her dashboard to determine whether they were “normal.” I told her politely that I wouldn’t be much help at this point because I just didn’t want to be outside with a stranger. After opening the rear door and climbing into the backseat, she let the car drive away. My stomach dropped right away, and I became really frightened.”
Going Up?
“While on the elevator, my manager murmured, ‘Don’t get off. I ran into my manager on my way into work. He was behaving oddly. As I attempt to exit the elevator when it stops, he grabs my hand. “Please don’t get off.” It awed me. “What?” Why wouldn’t I? He grasped my hand while giving me a frantic expression. “Please, please don’t.”
My wife’s phone pings at that exact moment. “AVOID the elevator!” I thought, ‘What could go wrong?’ and walked out, screwing this terrible joke. I looked around and my wife was standing there. “Why are you in this place?” She had something in a blanket in her hand. Is that, God forbid, a hand? When my wife attempted to stutter out an answer, her face turned white. As we waited there, the blanket started to get redder, but before one of us could say anything, my manager approached me from behind and said, “I told you not to leave the elevator.” After then, everything became dark.”
Good Boy
“I was having a nice afternoon sitting on my front porch a few months back. I’m a country boy at heart. The nearest neighbors are more than a mile away. It was just my dog and I, seeing squirrels darting over the dirt path. A man visits my yard from the road around mid-afternoon and requests to get inside. I give him a wave. He seems like a pretty good guy. My dog moved to block him as he got closer to the stairs. The dog’s hair was standing on his back and he was snarling low. This was not like usual.
When would he bite, the man questioned. “He’s meaner than h—,” I replied. He has never bit someone and is not cruel. But that wasn’t necessary for this guy to know. Before leaving, we spoke for a short while and he asked me some questions about the neighborhood. After the guy left, my dog felt tense for twenty minutes. Later that evening, as I watched the news, I noticed a police sketch of a man who bore a striking resemblance to the man who had earlier been named as a suspect in an abduction case that occurred just three miles from my house.”
Special Delivery
“I used to work at a mall candy store when I was seventeen. This guy stayed and tried to talk to me all the way from opening to closing. We had wonderful conversations. When he stayed until closing and waited for me to finish, though, I felt uneasy. He even assisted me in closing. I foolishly drove him to his car after we had strolled to mine. Luckily, nothing horrible occurred. But the following day arrived. He was waiting for me there the day I had to open.
He gave me McDonald’s, but saw I was a little uncomfortable and irritated, so he left it at the gate and walked away. Since I was still uncomfortable, I didn’t eat it. When I arrived at work the following day, there were several dead raccoons in the parking lot and McDonald’s wrappers all over the place. I’m glad I didn’t consume the food—I have no idea what he had laced it with. I think it saved my life.”
Unwelcome Visitor
U/Superdonnasaur: “I had just returned home from taking my baby to get his first haircut, put him to sleep in his crib, and then I had fallen asleep in my own bed. I never lock my front door during the day, but today I had heard the handle rattle. It shook a couple more times, and when I looked out my room window, which faces the porch, I noticed a very tall man sort of attempting to see in my other window before he just sat in the chair I have on my porch.
To be honest, I called the cops right away. He tried to flee and was caught by the police after the dispatcher spent almost six minutes whispering the specifics to her over the phone. Later on, I found out he had an arrest warrant.”
Pediatric Predator
U/yakkay_mom: “I cheered in high school, but I visited a school that really took cheerleading very seriously. Physicals were more thorough for me because I had a peculiar heart. I was driven to my appointment by my aunt, who worked at the local clinic. The doctor remained in our room and spoke with us both after my physical was over. Although I had previously seen him, this doctor was really kind to me this time.
Did my parents still allow me to date? he inquired. When I was fifteen, they…Then he asked if I would want to go on a date. I thought he was joking because, obviously, I was a child and this was a doctor who looked to be in his 30s. He was not. I just felt so grossed out.”
To-Do List
U/pugalug14: “I grew up in a little village, but there had been a murder in the city, and a man in his mid-20s had broken into the apartment of a young woman.and fatally stabbed her after that. Fortunately, the man was apprehended and imprisoned soon after the murder. A few days later, my mother and I were living at our house, and I answered the knock. Two police officers were standing there and inquired if I knew [the man who had been taken into custody for murder].
They added that following the murder, they had gone into his apartment. They discovered an eight-named, numbered list. The first on the list was the woman he had fatally stabbed. On the list, my name was also written.I was number two on the list. I had never heard of him, let alone met him. Though the contents of that list should be clear, the police never got in touch with me after that.”
Station Stranger
“I was returning home after going deer hunting.I had made a stop at a gas station.and was making my way back to my truck when a young girl, maybe 16 years old, took hold of my front while obviously attempting to keep me in the way of her and her partner. With a terrified voice, she informed me that an unfamiliar male was attempting to seduce her, and she gestured to a man who was approaching us.
“Hey buster, if ya wanna get to this girl you’re gon’ have to go through me or more accurately I go through you!” I said at the man. My shout attracted the attention of other onlookers, and the man instantly lost confidence and turned away. It makes perfect sense that the girl was too afraid to walk home alone, so I ended up giving her a ride back to her residence.”
Emergency Call
U/LoveYourDoggos: “My aunt took an odd call while I was in school, and my mom was out running chores. The caller stated my mother’s name, our car’s colour and brand, and that she and I had been in a car accident. She was informing my aunt of this. The catch is that she was pleading for cash to enable the hospital to “function” and preserve our lives.
Although my aunt was taken aback, the caller had no idea that our lone vehicle was securely parked at home. The caller then became agitated and demanded that she send someone to our location IMMEDIATELY to collect the money so they could pay and operate on us immediately, claiming that this was the “fastest” method available. My aunt hung up, called my mother, and told her everything.”
Sneaky Smile
“When my boyfriend was just four years old, his entire family was murdered. In their beds, they were found with their throats cut. My friend Finn was discovered hiding in a closet. He took a while to inform me about the deaths in his family. He stated that people’s morbid obsession with him at the time was the reason. To be honest, I was already in love with Finn.
Then came his parents’ tenth anniversary of passing away. When I tried to discuss it with him when we drove to his cousins, he assured me that everything was fine. It was then that I felt it. Turning, I saw Finn smiling back at me. That was not a smile, though. It matched the Joker’s cunning smirk as it covered such a large portion of his face. Before he went into hiding in that closet all those years ago, I started to wonder exactly what he was doing.”
Pumping Gas
U/mjsmore33: “I stopped for gas this morning at 7:45 a.m. before heading to work. I felt eyes on me as I was putting my card away, and when I turned around, I saw a guy staring at me. He had arrived in a rusty yellow vehicle. He was a white man in his 20s who looked to be stressed out or simply out of it. He was covered with scabs.
Although his expression was harsh and he was not smiling, he did not appear angry. I think the other guy was in his 40s. Because he wouldn’t avert his sight, it made me extremely uneasy. He even pointed at me and said something to the driver, the other person in the car, at one point. I quickly hopped back in my car while my car fueled up. As I sat in my car I grabbed my pepper spray because I felt really unsafe.”
Sealed Shut
U/koolaidjammersz: “Last night, I (27) F was at home by myself, sleeping in my bed in the middle of the night. The sound of someone trying to force their way through my closed bedroom window startled me. Even though I couldn’t see the window, I could tell by the distinct sound of it jiggling and being locked. When I arose to take a look, I noticed a gloomy outline of a figure looking out the window.
I took a moment to sit back down, but as soon as I understood what I had seen, I quickly got back up. They had vanished. I walked outside first thing in the morning to see if I was crazy.
Sleep Walking
U/allisonmfitness: “I heard my door open about 2:00, and since my room was quite dark, I thought it was my roommate. That is, the individual approach my laundry basket directly and begins to rummage in it, as though seeking something. I ask, “Hey, is everything okay?” as I sit up. Not a reply. After that, the person walks back out of my room.
My roommate’s boyfriend is starring at himself in the bathroom mirror when I get up and open my door. I ask him if he’s okay again, but he doesn’t answer. When I told my roommate what had happened this morning—her boyfriend had departed for the day—she informed me that she had discovered my towel and bra in her room.…Basically, he was sleep walking, but it creeped me the f— out.”
Fantasy Land
U/SkinNYmini18: “My parents were acquainted with this couple who worked at my dad’s office when I was about two or three years old. They really enjoyed viewing me and often asked to watch me.My dad considered it strange that they volunteered to pay for everything, but my mom was fine with it when they asked to take me to Disneyworld with their niece one day.
He declined to speak with them. That same pair that wanted to take me to Disney committed significant fraud and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars. The couple vanished from sight for weeks after that, and the company that my dad and them worked for launched an inquiry. They disappeared and my dad has no idea what happened to them since…”
Bad Bunkmate
U/quinn771: “I’m a 23-year-old woman living at a hostel with four beds per room in Paris. This man advises me to take these pills he has and introduces himself. He persisted in pressing me when I said no, asking why I was scared to take them. Later on in the evening, he extends an invitation to go out and promises to “show me a good time.”
He tells me he’ll wait an hour for me to arrive while he heads down to the pub at around ten. I informed him that I wasn’t going out that night when he came up at eleven and asked me why I hadn’t come. I dressed and went to the club after he departed. I arrived home at around nine in the morning, having had a fantastic evening. He was furious with me for leaving him behind when he returned to the room. I head downstairs right away and ask for a different room.”
Feeling Scared?
U/like722ninjas: “I found this a few days ago from my boyfriend. He claimed that about a month prior, while staying over, he was startled out of sleep in the middle of the night by “something.” He was unsure of what it was, but he felt as though we weren’t alone.
I was fast asleep on my stomach when he turned to see how I was doing. He reported that after getting to my feet and turning to face him, I said, “I bet you’re really scared right now,” before settling back down. I never opened my eyes, he said. I don’t remember anything about this. It’s my luck that he still shows up after that.”
Don’t Test Me
U/silversundogmom: This incident took place in 1989. The previous day, I had given birth to my son early in the morning. Beside my bed, in his bassinet, slept my kid. Upon entering my room, a nurse whom I had never seen before took hold of one edge of the bassinet and began to take it away. “What are you doing?” I asked, grabbing the other end. She announced that she was bringing him out for his blood work.
“He’s already had his tests, so what sort of tests are you talking about?” I asked, pointing to the bandage on his heel. She muttered something about not knowing for sure but that he required some test. I maintained my fast hold on the bassinet and told her to find out what test and then let me know. She went away and never came back.”
Internet Stalker
U/DemEm22: About a year ago, I made a reddit account and was unfamiliar with the platform. I didn’t consider incorporating my first name in the username as a result. I saw a fresh Reddit chat request when I woke up approximately two weeks ago. I clicked on it and saw the message, “Are you John Smith who works at Chase Bank in Seattle, Washington as a Clerical Staffer?” (name, position, firm, and city modified for ethical reasons).
Reading this made my heart sink because they had accurately identified both my complete name and city. Luckily, they had not actually discovered me in the city, but rather someone else with a different career. But if they did, I wonder what would happen? I’m not sure how they determined my last name or city, but it was sufficient for me to create a new Reddit account.”
Stop and Shop
U/ElChombooppai: “So, I went to the supermarket yesterday to get food. Before you entered the supermarket, there was a youngster, maybe seven or eight years old, standing by himself.so I figured he was just strolling from his friend’s place back home. The child had just finished selecting his goods and was now in the grocery store parking lot. That’s when I observed the child with the woman, who was wearing shades and a cap. Don’t forget that it was about seven o’clock at that point.Shades are a little odd, so
The child began to shake his head, and the women attempted to take hold of his arm.The women “speed-walked” away as soon as they saw me. When I asked the youngster if he was okay, he said that he was just waiting for his older brother to come get him.I called him and instructed him to go get his sibling. I’m not sure who that woman was or what her goals were, but I like to think I came through for the day.”
Screeching Halt
U/trishilish: “The other evening, I went on a walk with my dog at around 9:30 p.m. We cross an intersection while strolling along, taking our time.I hear a car following me going very quickly for a residential neighborhood. Then, about two homes down the street, this automobile stops abruptly on the same side as me. simply stops; it doesn’t turn off the engine or put it in park.
I came to a halt as well and for a while I just stood there staring. Things like this usually don’t worry me too much, but I was beginning to feel anxious despite myself. I then took out my phone and gave my roommate, who was at home, a call. My phone lit up, and then the car pulled out and I sped away. Even though I don’t think the person in the automobile intended to hurt me, I can’t stop thinking about it days later.”
Right Place Right Time
A few years ago, I worked for a vendor.I had gone to a nearby store to fix a bill-paying machine. My spouse texted me to let me know that she was at the same Walmart buying our son some formula and would meet me outside her car so I could see them before heading to my next appointment. As I step outside, I see her pushing the vehicle with a man closely trailing behind her.
As I begin to jog in that way and shout her name, she turns to face me and the guy freezes. The man then dashes between my wife’s car and another, running diagonally between them. I’m currently doing a dead sprint toward the direction of her car. The man doubles back towards the white Tahoe and they take off swiftly when he gets inside.”
Anyone Home?
“My two pals and I moved into a triplex close to our school when we were undergraduates. Our neighbors upstairs were older guys from our school, and our downstairs neighbors were buddies from Rez. Angie, our roommate, tried to enter one day but discovered that the door was shut. Being from a tiny French village, she didn’t know the safety regulations of the metropolis, therefore she inquired as to whether we always locked it.When Angie came home, she insisted on leaving the door unlocked.
She was sitting alone on the couch one day when the door opened and no one came in. She shouted, “Hello?” in shock. “Sorry, wrong house,” the man at the door said before walking away. It was definitely not our neighbors, and having to walk a steep flight of stairs makes it hard to “get the wrong house.”After that, Angie always shut the door.”
Dead Man Walking
U/MartFartShart: “This happened years ago, when I was maybe eight or nine years old. My dad had taken me for a walk in the woods close to our lodging when I was on vacation with him at the time. After entering fairly far, we noticed this man lying on the ground with his face down. My father assumed at first that this man was dead because he wasn’t moving. When the man on the ground gets up and turns to face us, my dad begins to reach into his pocket.
His garments had dark stains that, looking back, I believe might have been blood. This is the first instance I can recall in my life where my father is utterly dumbfounded. The man then runs off into the woods after screaming, “You’ve got a dead man on your hands.” He contacted the cops as soon as we departed.
Run Like the Wind
U/courtcash: “It was on a major route around six o’clock in the evening. It was already dark outside because it was winter. I noticed a car parked along a tiny side road as I was strolling.I continued to walk, but I kept glancing at the small vehicle because of its unusual location. Eventually, the little van began to approach, so I quickened my pace.
A man was seated in the driver’s seat of the little van that had stopped next to me. I started to flee as he asked, “Hey, can you help me with something?” Throwing open his door, he began running after me. After 30 minutes, he was apprehended and taken into custody in a parking lot. They found several weapons and other ‘tools’ in his car (duct tape, zip ties, etc.)”
