U/Affectionate-Rush893: “I remember completing my first complete purge of my bedroom as a child, getting rid of toys, old clothes, and other stuff. I discovered an old photo cut out of my parent’s hometown newspaper while organizing my closet. It showed Lyndon Johnson visiting the community. There were some locals in the backdrop of the photo, which was taken outside.
I started to toss the image away, but then I had a strong urge not to, so I put it aside instead. I later showed my mother and inquired about it. It turned out that my grandfather was one of the people in the backdrop of the photo. At twelve, he passed away. We had very few pictures of him, including that one. Until now, I had never seen a picture of him. I felt so relieved that I had kept the clipping.”
