Vanishing Threat
U/RickOShea: “I was playing on my front lawn in the 1980s when this van drew up on the street, and the sliding door opened. I realized something wasn’t right when this guy, who looked in his late teens, aggressively asked me to come to the van. My parents freaked out and went outside, but they had already left by the time I got there.
I had no concept of what an abduction was at the time, and stranger danger didn’t exist, but when I think back on it, I realize that day, if I had gone over to the van, my life might have ended. I used to worry if they could get a child inside their vehicle after that day.”
