U/Traditional-Resist45: “To put things in perspective, my wife and I have been married for ten years. We have two boys, ages six and ten. My spouse is a homemaker, and I work a full-time job. We manage our finances well enough to put food on the table and pay our bills, but we don’t take annual vacations abroad. I discovered an unexpected transfer last night while browsing our shared bank account online (around $100 so not significant). I found this strange, so I checked the transaction history and noticed that this account has had a number of transfers; neither the frequency nor the value seem to follow a pattern.
After I challenged her, my wife finally acknowledged that she hadn’t told me about her separate bank account.I wanted to view the balance and the purchases she had made, but she wouldn’t show me the account online. I didn’t speak to her again before going to bed. I located her bank card after looking through her wallet. I stopped at an ATM on my way home from the gym to check my balance, and there were just a few hundred bucks in there. She hasn’t bought any pricey items out of the blue, such as new jewelry or designer clothing. I’m stumped as to why she declined to give me access to the online banking credentials.
