In education, teachers are entrusted with more than just imparting knowledge—they shape young minds, nurture aspirations, and help students grow. Their impact can be transformative, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. Unfortunately, the opposite is also true.
When Carl Johnson took his daughter Sarah to school one day, he could not have predicted that his teacher would do something to undermine standards of honor and decency. When she came to school to meet him, she had no idea who she was dealing with.
Meet the Johnsons
Carl Johnson lived in Asheville, North Carolina, with his daughter Sarah. His wife, Angela, died of cancer when Sarah was just three years old. Now she was seven, and he loved her more than the whole world.
Being a single dad was hard, but Carl worked hard to ensure Sarah got everything from Mom and dad. He did everything he could to keep her safe and protect her from further pain. But something was about to happen, and he couldn’t save her.
Sarah’s Hair
Sarah’s hair was her pride and joy. Every Sunday afternoon, Carl would gently wash and comb then style his hair. One week she would have braids of little beads at the end, and the next week she would have twists or Bantu braids all over her head tied with shiny bows.
It always took a couple of hours and although it sometimes hurt when his father pulled his hair into place and smiled at him, the time they spent together loving him was the highlight of Carl’s week. He could not have foreseen such a disaster.
