Working Overtime
For the next two weeks, Alex worked hard. He stayed at his job longer each day. Even though he was tired when he got home, he was happy. He felt sure he was doing the right thing. He was excited about what was going to happen. His coworkers in engineering noticed a change in him.
Alex just smiled a kind of funny smile. He told them they would understand soon. They thought he was trying hard to keep his job. But they did not know what was really going on.
Resignation Day
Today was the day. Alex readied his resignation letter. He wore fancy clothes and brought Russian treats to the office. Going to Vivian’s office, purposefully, he knocked. While she talked to a friend about a film, he entered.
Annoyed, she barely looked at him. He put the letter on her desk. Soon, she’ll see what happens when you don’t value a skilled engineer.
