Upon our first few climbing trips, he was somewhat reserved at first, but he soon warmed up to me and even gave me some “teaching.” In addition, I helped his daughter stay focused during her time in college. She acknowledged that without me, she would not have persisted and obtained an acceptable master’s degree.
I believe the father would be grateful that I have a positive influence on his daughter. He must be kind of like me since he opens a couple of bottles of w— or c——– whenever I visit his house now, which is just a few times a year.”
