Divorce is tough for everyone, especially kids. Even with the best intentions, parents can lock into bitter custody fights, overlooking the child’s needs. Janet Miller wound up in court, fighting for her daughter, Jasmine.
Janet thought Roger was family-focused, but he wasn’t. Jasmine’s statement during the trial shocked the judge. So, what did Jasmine say?
Meet the Millers
To the outside world, the Millers are seen as a normal family. Janet, 32, lives with her daughter Jasmine, who is 8. Janet married Roger four years back after the sad death of Jasmine’s dad, Janet’s first husband, due to an overdose. Since then, Roger has legally adopted Jasmine.
They live in New Jersey with their loving dog, Rover. Roger cared for Janet and Jasmine in good times. But, hidden behind this normal look, the Millers kept a disturbing secret.
Trying to Be a Family
Janet had a tough life. Her past wasn’t easy, and she sometimes used alcohol to numb her feelings. Yet, she saw Roger as her chance to start anew and worked hard to build a good life with him. Her love for her daughter, Jasmine, was her greatest.
Even in hard times, she made sure Jasmine’s needs were met. Janet gave Jasmine a dog, Rover. The two quickly became best friends, spending lots of time playing in the yard and hanging out on the couch.
