What the Neighbors Heard
The Millers had a loud mishap on a Friday night. To the next-door folks, it wasn’t the usual squabble of voices this time. Shouting, shrieking, the crash of broken china, and the scared barking of a dog filled the air. Suddenly, a loud bang echoed, and quiet followed.
A faint child’s cry, unlike normal noises, worried everyone nearby. Scared and unsure, they called 911, hoping the cops would swiftly stop any more disturbances. Little did they realize that, for one family member, it had already reached a point of no return.
Police Involvement
The cops took a half hour to reach the site. Janet had time to calm down and soothe Jasmine, clearing her tears. But Roger was gone when they got there. Janet told them that it was a mix-up because she dropped something important, which made her husband upset. This wasn’t rare.
The cops wrote down her story but seemed doubtful. They said they’d be back in a few days. Janet was sad when she went to sleep, knowing things would get worse. She was right to worry, as she’d soon find out.
