Woman Across the Street
There was no sound for a moment after Eliana knocked on the door, but she waited anyway. She knocked once more and then heard footsteps approaching the door before a face popped out. The woman seemed to be in her late forties and was clearly shy. Eliana extended her hand anyway.
Then, she began to explain how she was new in the neighborhood and had been receiving ridiculous letters from the HOA. “Is this normal? Have you received any of these letters before?” she asked. The woman simply nodded and pulled Eliana into her house.
