The fact that humans tend to live in locations that are not entirely deserts may have something to do with the fact that the Sahara Desert occupies a sizable chunk of the top of Africa.
However, if you look at population by nation, you will see that, with 200 million people on its own, Nigeria, which occupies most of the red space, is home to more people than any other nation.
