True to Size
Japan has always seemed to us to be a pretty small country. Even though Japan has a significant cultural influence on the rest of the world, we have always perceived Japan as being considerably smaller than other nations. Perhaps this is due to its proximity to the enormous nation of China.
When Japan lies adjacent to the US east coast, its true size is evident. Making comparisons puts things in perspective.
