Due to satellites and more precise information, maps must be updated and modified frequently. These highlight the shortcomings of every other map we’ve examined. But our knowledge of geography and the actual physical links between nations and landmarks is largely dependent on them.

From an entirely different angle, it turns out that, rather than appearing to occupy the entire bottom of a two-dimensional map, Antarctica seems considerably smaller and different on a three-dimensional one.
